What to expect at Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach
The Abu Dhabi Corniche is one of the UAE's best waterfront public spaces, an 8-kilometre landscaped promenade along the western edge of Abu Dhabi island with Blue Flag-certified beaches, a dedicated cycling and running track, excellent cafes and juice bars, and spectacular views of the Abu Dhabi skyline and the Arabian Gulf. It is completely free to access and open 24 hours, making it the top free experience available in the UAE capital.

The Beach
The Corniche Beach is divided into paid and free sections. In fact, the paid sections (AED 10–25) offer well-maintained sunloungers, umbrellas and premium facilities. The free sections are equally clean and well-maintained. Moreover, the municipality's investment in the beach's upkeep is visible throughout. Generally, the beach holds Blue Flag certification, reflecting high standards of water quality and environmental management.
Besides, the water is shallow and the gradient gentle, ideal for families with young children and for casual swimming. Lifeguards are on duty during daylight hours and designated swimming areas are clearly marked. The beach is at its most beautiful in the late afternoon when the western sun illuminates the water in warm light and the Abu Dhabi skyline glows behind it.
The Promenade and Cycling Track
Besides, the full 8km Corniche promenade offers one of the best free urban walks in the Gulf region: from the Heritage Village at the southern end past the luxury hotels, the beach sections and the parks to the northernmost section near the breakwater. Besides, the walk takes about 2 hours at a comfortable pace. A dedicated cycling and running track runs the full length, separated from the pedestrian promenade. Bicycle hire is available at multiple points (AED 20–30 per hour). The best cycling time is early morning (6–9 AM) when the temperature is ideal and the track is at its quietest.
What to Do on the Corniche
Beyond swimming and walking, the Corniche offers beach volleyball courts, children's playgrounds, excellent fresh juice bars, kayak hire from beach operators, and the proximity to the Emirates Palace at the southern end for those wanting to combine a promenade walk with afternoon tea at Abu Dhabi's most iconic luxury hotel. The Corniche at Ramadan Iftar, when families gather along the waterfront for the breaking of the fast, is one of Abu Dhabi's most atmospheric and most characteristically Emirati seasonal experiences.
